Tanzania capital’s Outer Ring Road hits 85pc completion

DODOMA: THE construction of the Dodoma Outer Ring Road, one of Tanzania’s key infrastructure projects, has reached over 85 percent completion, according to the Ministry of Works.

The road, which spans 112.3 kilometers, the Ring Road, is expected to ease traffic congestion and boost connectivity around the capital.

During an inspection tour, Minister of Works Abdallah Ulega expressed satisfaction with the progress and announced plans to enhance the road’s visibility by installing street lighting along the entire stretch, especially to improve safety at night.

He instructed TANROADS engineers to ensure that by June, the construction reaches at least 90 percent completion.

The minister emphasized that the Ring Road is part of broader efforts to modernize Tanzania’s road infrastructure, with Dodoma at the center of this transformation.

He also revealed plans to construct four- and six-lane roads linking Chamwino State House to the city center, with the contractor procurement process now in its final stages.

Commenting on other key infrastructure projects, Ulega affirmed that preparations for the Morocco and Mwenge flyovers in Dar es Salaam are progressing well, stating that technical procedures are being finalized to pave the way for implementation.

On his part Eng. Aloyce Matei, Acting Permanent Secretary and Director of Roads at the Ministry, added that by July, funding agreements for the Dar es Salaam flyovers are expected to be signed, allowing work to begin.
