TanTrade gears up for 49th DITF with 57pc preparations completed

DAR ES SALAAM: PREPARATIONS for the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) are progressing steadily, with over half of the work already completed, which is a significant milestone achieved seven weeks ahead of the event.

According to the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), 57 per cent of the preparatory work is complete, marking a positive step toward a successful exhibition.

Speaking to Daily News yesterday, TanTrade Director General Ms Latifa Khamis confirmed that preparations are on track, including the construction of exhibition booths for both local and international participants.

She stressed that TanTrade is also working to upgrade all facilities at the fairgrounds to ensure reliable access to essential services throughout the venue.

“A series of special programmes will run alongside the main exhibition. These include business forums, National Days, Zanzibar Day and business-to-business (B2B) and corporate engagement sessions involving both local and international participants,” said Ms Khamis.

She added that more programmes would be introduced based on government directives and stakeholder feedback, noting that there is still time to accommodate additional suggestions.

Furthermore, Ms Khamis said TanTrade is continuing to coordinate the Business Clinic, an initiative that brings together key government support institutions to provide education, advisory services and practical solutions to challenges facing local traders.

The business clinic will operate daily throughout the fair at the Sabasaba grounds along Kilwa Road in Dar es Salaam.

Efforts are also underway to ensure the availability and reliability of basic facilities such as water, electricity and many others.

“Officers from the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) will be on standby to address any power-related issues,” she added.
