Tanzania’s TUCTA says AI technology not threat to jobs
SINGIDA: Following the rise in the use of modern technology across the country, the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) has called for efforts to ensure that these technological changes do not lead to job losses among Tanzanians, allowing them to remain part of the national workforce.
TUCTA emphasizes that while embracing technological advancements, it is crucial to safeguard workers’ employment.
Speaking on behalf of the federation’s members, TUCTA President Tumaini Nyamhokya expressed this stance today, April 28, 2025, in Singida Region, during the national celebrations of the International Day for Safety and Health at Work. Nyamhokya affirmed that TUCTA will continue to advocate for workers’ interests during this period of technological transition.

Nyamhokya further noted that in many areas, TUCTA has independently fulfilled its duties, particularly in defending workers’ employment rights. However, when it comes to issues of workplace safety and health, the federation closely collaborates with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to improve working conditions.
According to Nyamhokya, TUCTA remains committed to working with the government and other institutions to ensure that all work across the country adheres to safety and health standards, thereby protecting workers’ welfare and supporting national development.
