Tanzania’s NLD unveils new team of leaders

DAR ES SALAAM: POLITICAL leaders from the opposition have emphasized the importance of avoiding divisive and inflammatory politics that can incite violence and urged their fellow politicians to embrace tolerance and engage in constructive politics that support the growth of the national economy.

This message was delivered by the Representative of Makini Political Party, Ameir Ameir, during the National General Meeting of the National League for Democracy (NLD), held in Dar es Salaam.

The meeting also included the official nomination and endorsement of presidential candidates for the Tanzania Mainland and the Isles.

During the party’s nomination process, Hassan Doyo secured 96 percent of the votes to become the NLD’s presidential candidate for Tanzania Mainland.

Mfaume Hassan was also nominated as the presidential candidate for Zanzibar, receiving 90 percent of the delegates’ votes.

He said:“All politicians and Tanzanians should avoid politics that provoke violence and lead to national instability,” said Ameir.

The Presidential candidate, Hassan Doyo, thanked the delegates for their support and urged all Tanzanians to safeguard the country’s peace and avoid unnecessary unrest, which hinders national development
