Tanzanian girl wins UNI-AID Africa’s scholarship to study aviation engineering

DAR ES SALAAM: UNI-AID Africa has offered a scholarship to a young Tanzanian girl, Arafa Mazige, that enables her to study aviation engineering technology at JAIN Institute in India.

Mazige, who hails from Mvomero District in Morogoro region, had an ambition to learn aviation technology since her childhood, getting inspiration from her father, Hashimu Mazige, who is a self-taught mechanic.

She said her interest in engineering came from her father after he managed to revive a rusty car and made it operational in a short period.

“The car hadn’t functioned for three years. It was rusty and seemingly impossible to work again. My father worked hard and made it work,” she revealed and added:” She said everything is possible when there is determination.”

Arafa has advised her fellow young girls to work hard in the classroom while urging them to develop an interest in science subjects.
