IGP Wambura assures of peaceful, orderly election
KILIMANJARO: THE Police Force has assured the public that it is well-prepared for the upcoming General Election later this year, emphasising its commitment to ensuring the process are peaceful and orderly.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camilius Wambura made this statement while concluding a training session for police officers at Sergeant and Corporal levels in Siha District, Kilimanjaro Region, over the weekend.
“The police force will not tolerate anyone who seeks to disrupt peace in the country under the guise of the general election,” he said.
“We will not accept violence or any acts that undermine public order during the election. Our primary duty is to ensure that all citizens live in peace, regardless of whether it’s an election period or not,” he said.
IGP Wambura urged the newly graduated officers to take the lead in maintaining the peace that Tanzanians enjoy.

He reminded them that the responsibility for safeguarding peace rests with the police, including the graduates.
“I also encourage you to remain focused on discipline and professionalism in your duties. Keep an open mind and continue learning to improve your efficiency and effectiveness in serving the public,” he added.
Speaking at the event, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Ramadhani Mungi, the Commandant of the Tanzania Police School (TPS), noted that the graduation marked the conclusion of training that began in December 2024.
“A total of 2,752 students started this training, of whom 23 were withdrawn for various reasons, including indiscipline and an inability to afford the training expenses,” he explained.
The training covered key areas such as law, human rights management and community service delivery.
As the graduates return to their respective posts, SACP Mungi expressed confidence that the knowledge they gained at TPS would help improve the performance of the police force in protecting both citizens and property.
