Tanzania Prisons confident can avoid relegation

MBEYA: TANZANIA Prisons head coach, Aman Josiah, remains optimistic about his team’s chances of avoiding relegation from the Mainland Premier League, despite their current struggle.

Speaking in an interview at Sokoine Memorial Stadium in Mbeya, Josiah acknowledged the challenges the league presents but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to turn things around.

With Tanzania Prisons currently sitting 13th in the Premier League standings, having earned 17 points from 17 matches (four wins, five draws and eight losses), Josiah underscored the importance of hard work and dedication to ensure survival in the top flight.

The team has scored nine goals and conceded 18 so far this season and the coach is determined to shift their fortunes.

“While the league is very difficult, I believe we can still make it through,” Josiah said.

“The key is to stay focused and dedicated to our goal of survival. We need extra strength from each player and every individual must be committed to ensuring we avoid relegation.”

The coach explained that morale and motivation are central to his approach.

“Our job now is to keep the players’ spirits high, ensuring that they remain focused on the task at hand: Securing three points in every match. If we do this, we will be in a good position to stay in the league,” Josiah added.

Tanzania Prisons will have a tough challenge ahead, starting with their upcoming match against Simba tomorrow at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.

Despite the daunting opponent, Josiah’s confidence remains unshaken.

“We know facing Simba will be tough, but we will play our hearts out. We will give our best on the field and let the 90 minutes decide,” Josiah said.

The team will then travel back to Mbeya to face Namungo FC at CCM Sokoine Memorial Stadium on Friday, with Josiah hoping the team can build momentum with back-to-back positive results.

Midfielder Benno Ngassa also echoed the coach’s sentiment, expressing belief in the team’s ability to compete and deliver good performances.
