CCM elders in Isles support Samia’s call for youth voter registration

ZANZIBAR: CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Elders Council in Zanzibar has echoed the national party chairperson, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s call for youths to register for voting in this year’s general election.

Speaking during a press conference, the council’s Vice Chairman, Mr Waziri Mbwana Ali said young people are encouraged to register for voting so that they can take part in electing country’s leaders.

“Through the media, we urge young people to get motivated and seize the opportunity presented by the second phase of the voter registration exercise to secure their right to vote in the upcoming elections,” he said.

As directed by President Samia, Mr Waziri emphasised on the crucial role of youths in the nation’s future. He reminded them that failing to register means giving up their right to vote and influence the nation’s leadership.

“Voting is the key to electing visionary leaders who will drive the nation’s development. Young people should not hesitate, every eligible voter must register to ensure their voice is heard,” he stated.

He also urged all citizens to support CCM in the upcoming elections, describing it as the party that champions peace, unity and national development. During the CCM’s 48th anniversary celebrations held in Dodoma on Wednesday, President Samia reiterated her appeal to CCM members, especially the youth, to ensure that everyone registers to vote, so that the party can achieve a resounding victory in the general elections.

Addressing concerns over the rising cost of living and claims by opposition parties in Zanzibar that some citizens are struggling to afford basic meals, Mr Waziri dismissed the allegations, assuring the public that no Tanzanian, whether in Zanzibar or on the mainland is experiencing hunger.

He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance food security by promoting agricultural production.
