KISWAHILI FOR BEGGINERS: letter D

We continue with the which start with letter D,in Swahili language.

Deki means to wash the floor ,to mop,to rub,to scrub,clean or wipe with a mop,verb-deki(infinitive- kudeki)sample translated sentence,Niliwaza sitafanya tena kazi kwenye chumba Cha kupikia Cha jeshi, sitapiga deki tena, kama naweza kuyaepuka hayo'( Ithought no more mess kitchens for me ,no more scrubbing the decks,if I can avoid it”).

Dereva ,madereva means Driver,driver is singular and madereva is plural,this word is originated from English language.so that Swahili language borrow this word from English language and use .sample translated sentence.Dereva anaendesha gari kwa khzingatia usalama wa barabarani.Dereva anaendesha gari kwa speed(mwendo mkali) Kali sana,madereva wanaombwa wazingatie alama za barabarani waendeshapo magari.

Desturi means custom,routine ,or is the long- established practice ,so in Tanzania we have many custorms and norms according to our culture and traditions,sample translated sentence.Nyakati za zamani,kulikuwa na desturi ya kumpataji mkimbiaji aliyeshinda katika mashindano ya mnoo.(In ancient times,it was the custom to give a crown to the runner who won a race.)

Dini means Religion ,in Tanzania we have two common religion and that is Islam and christianity. sample translated sentence Ni kweli kuzungumza na vijana wenzake kuhusu dini,Kuna weza kuonekana kuwa jambo gumu kweli kweli(still talking to your peer about religion many seem like a dauting challenge.

Dogo means small,little ,there are word like ndogo also means little or small.also Dogo is the name of person can be he or she ,sample translated sentence dogo anaenda shule(Dogo is going to school) ,Dogo ana cheza mpira ( Dogo is playing football) hii chupa ni ndogo sana ( this bottle is very small).also dogo is used to call the person who is younger than others it can be a boy or a girl sample translated sentence we dogo acha kuchezea maji .

Duka means shop ,sample translated sentence naenda dukani kununua sabuni,sukari na mchele kwa ajili ya kupika.nyumbani,Duka limefungwa ,maduka yamefungwa Leo,Kuna maduka ya aina nyingi duka la nguo ,na duka la viatu,duka la jumla.na maduka ya dejareja

Dunia means World,duniani means in the world,there are says Dunia hadaa walimwengu shujaa,Dunia Haina mwisho ,sample.translated sentence ,Earth is the among of the biggest planet(Dunia ni Moja wapo ya  miongoni mwa sayari.)
