Mwahija shines in Abu Dhabi, eyes Tricefa title

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: TANZANIAN athlete Mwahija Kisoma is continuing to make a mark in her debut Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) events in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This time, she took on the grueling 21-kilometre Abu Dhabi Spartan Beast World Championship course, which featured 30 challenging obstacles.
The event, officially recognised as both an Elite and Age Group World Championship, its organised by Dubai Police and the Dubai Sports Council in collaboration with the Fédération Internationale de Sports (FISO).
Kisoma completed the course in 3 hours, 40 minutes and 45 seconds, finishing 39th overall, 19th among women and 9th in her age group (30–34). In the professional category, she is ranked 19th with a time of 3 hours, 40 minutes and 44 seconds.

The title was claimed by Alisa Petrova, who finished in 2 hours, 22 minutes and 58 seconds, outpacing over 300 participants.

Earlier in the week, Kisoma also participated in the Spartan Night Sprint Race, a women’s-only 5-kilometre event with 20 obstacles, held in the picturesque Al Wathba Desert near Abu Dhabi. In that competition, she finished 42nd out of 323 participants and ranked 9th in her age category (30–34).
If Kisoma completes all three races in the series, she will earn her first-ever Trifecta status—an esteemed Spartan accolade awarded to competitors who finish three different OCR races in one calendar year. Achieving this milestone would solidify her place among elite OCR athletes and mark a significant achievement for Tanzanian sports.
The General Secretary of Scope Event, Abdallah Chapa praised Kisoma’s participation, noting how it helps raise Tanzania’s profile in the international sports arena.
After concluding the Abu Dhabi event, Kisoma is set to travel to Dubai for the highly anticipated Dubai Championships, which will take place from December 5–8.
Speaking from Abu Dhabi, Kisoma expressed gratitude for staying healthy throughout the events and reiterated her commitment to representing both Tanzania and Mzumbe University on the global stage.
