Yanga draw battle lines against Al Hilal

YOUNG Africans continue to appeal for fans to descend in numbers when they host Al Hilal in the first leg match of CAF Champions League at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam this Saturday.

The club’s newly crowned Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andre Mtine has made the call in Dar es Salaam insisting that their presence in the stadium makes a big difference.

“We appeal to our supporters to come out in numbers in all our matches and to remember that they are the 12th player when we play.

“Their support is very important for the team as it brings morale to players hence they should turn up in numbers. Inshallah, we will do well in our first leg to make the second leg a formality,” Mtine said.

He added that without support of fans, they cannot achieve their objectives saying every Tanzanian should rally behind Yanga as they represent the country.

He also seized the platform to wish well all Tanzania teams competing in the CAF Interclub games like Simba and Azam which are parading in the champions league and confederation cup respectively.

However, before facing the Sudan giants, Yanga have an NBC Premier League fixture versus Ruvu Shooting tomorrow which is set to give them required rythm before engaging in the champions assignment.

From the played four games, Yanga have annexed 10 points after three wins and one draw (2-2) against Azam meaning that they are yet to swallow the bitter pill of the campaign.

As such, a triumph over Ruvu Shooting will drive Yanga to 13 points and extend their unbeaten run of the season to five matches.

On the other hand, Ruvu Shooting have not lost any game this season, winning three and recording two draws thereby collecting 9 points in the process.

Their recent league match against Coastal Union elapsed 2-1 in favour of the former at Uhuru Stadium which saw them coming from behind to register the convincing victory.
