U-23 AFCON QUALIFIERS: Tanzania knock out South Sudan
Tanzania will face Nigeria in the next phase of the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after succeeding to bundle out South Sudan courtesy of away goal rule.
The two teams have played to an aggregate 3-3 draw at Huye Stadium in Rwanda giving an advantage for Tanzania to sail through as they have netted three goals at away venue.
In the first leg encounter at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, the output after normal period was a goalles draw as such, in today’s match, the winner had to be sourced to progress through.
On target for the country’s envoys were Abdul Suleiman, Ally Msengi and skipper Kelvin John thereby booking a space to face Nigeria in another seemingly tough fixture to both teams.
It is therefore a new challenge for the team’s Head Coach Hemed Morocco to keenly analyse their next opponent and figure out the best way to silence them so as to move further into the competition.
The Under-23 AFCON finals will be staged in Morocco next year where qualified teams will battle for the crown.
Egypt are the defending champions of the Under-23 AFCON title and will be playing to defend it for the second successive period.
