Stick to professionalism, DC Sima tells journalists
BUKOBA District Commissioner (DC), Mr Erasto Sima has urged journalists in Kagera Region and others across the country to stick to professionalism and avoid kickbacks that tarnish their profession.
Equally, he urged them to work hard and identify issues that face people, especially at the grassroots to enable government authorities to take necessary action and on time.
He made the remarks recently while addressing journalists’ members of the Kagera Press Club (KPC), while commemorating the World Press Day held in Bukoba Municipal Council.
“The government has much faith in the media. Be critical but always stick to professionalism and avoid kickbacks that tarnish the profession. You should also balance your news stories and ensure that you get them from right sources,” he said.
Mr Sima hailed President Samia Suluhu Hassan for implementing people-oriented projects. “For many years Tanzanians have enjoyed national unity. Each one of us has a duty to safeguard national interests. We should not allow religious differences to divide us,” she stated.
He also advised KPC members to form a fund that would be used to assist one another in time of need, such as medical fees where he contributed 200,000/-.
KPC Chairman, Mr Mbeki Mbeki, on the other hand, appealed to the journalists to work in unity while also reminding them to ensure they pay their annual membership fees.
