Halotel to reach less fortunate people

HALOTEL Tanzania has directed its regional offices throughout the country to adopt the culture of helping vulnerable groups, especially orphaned children in society.

Taking the stance in Coast Region, on Thursday while providing special needs including foodstuffs to Fadhili Orphanage Centre at Misugususugu, Halotel Head of Marketing Department, Ms Sakina Makabu said yesterday that such people require assistance from all quarters to live decent lives just like their counterparts in family homes.

She further said that in their outreach programme to the community, their branches countrywide should always think of children living in difficult circumstances and show love by reaching them with love, besides material support.

She said the gesture is aimed at improving their lives in line with the government’s efforts of supporting the less fortunate members of the community.

She said the donation of foodstuffs included 150 kilogrammes of rice, 50 kilogrammes of beans, 60 litres of cooking oil, 100 kilogrammes of cornmeal, 50 kilogrammes of sugar, two goats, soaps for personal hygiene among others.

Receiving the items, the Director of the Centre, Sureya Shehe noted that such assistance always assures the children that despite being orphaned, society is still taking care of them.

“As much as I appreciate the donations from Halotel Tanzania, they make a big difference to the children, who are in dire need of necessities such as food and school supplies, and most important is love to enable them also enjoy the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

We laud this gesture as another support to help the Tanzania community and hope they will continue to do so and improve the lives of Tanzanians,” she said.

The Fadhili Centre, which received the donation, cares for and educates 168 orphans.

Halotel’s support of the centre is part of the company’s regular practice to build good relations with the community, who are also their customers.

The practice is implemented through the company’s policies for community outreach, in addition to providing communication services throughout the country.
