Egyptian university to establish campus in TZ

THE government has expressed its commitment to work with Egypt in a number of sectors as it plans to establish a campus of the University of Egypt in the country.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Adolf Mkenda made an announcement after he met and held talks with the Egyptian ambassador to Tanzania, Mohamed Gaber Abulwafa.

Prof Mkenda said the government has provided opportunities to investors to come to the country to invest in various sectors including the education sector.

He said the University may also establish partnership with any university in the country to start providing education.

He directed the Ministry’s Director for Higher education, Dr Kennedy Hosea, to make sure he starts talks with various universities to see which among them was ready to join the plan.

Egyptian Ambassador to Tanzania Mohamed Gaber Abulwafa assured the minister that his country will continue strengthening relations with Tanzania in various sectors including education.

In their discussions they also talked about how to implement the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the visit by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to Egypt.

Amb Abulwafa also conveyed an invitation from Egypt’s Minister for Energy at a meeting that will be discussing about atomic energy issues as well as the invitation from his country’s Minister of Education for in-depth discussions on the importance of boosting ties between the two nations in the education sector.
