VP Ndejembi eulogizes the former Speaker Samuel Sitta

DODOMA: VICE President Deogratias Ndejembi has described the late Samuel John Sitta as a dedicated national leader whose contribution to the development of Parliament, strengthening of public institutions and promotion of democracy remains significant.
Speaking during a commemoration marking 10 years since Sitta’s death, the Vice-President said his tenure as Speaker of the National Assembly was marked by major reforms and institutional transformation, guided by his philosophy of βSpeed and Standard,β which emphasised efficiency and high standards in parliamentary operations.
He said Sitta’s legacy should not be measured solely by the public offices he held, but also by the lasting impact he made on people’s lives and national institutions through his vision, principles, patriotism and commitment to placing national interests above personal interests.
Ndejembi said the late Sitta left an enduring legacy of good leadership, integrity and strong institutional development, calling on current leaders to uphold these values in serving the nation.

He noted that Sitta served the country in various capacities, including Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Minister for Transport, Minister for East African Cooperation, Speaker of the National Assembly and Chairperson of the Constituent Assembly.
The Vice-President further said Sitta’s contribution extended beyond the positions he held, particularly in protecting the dignity of Parliament, promoting public accountability and upholding institutional procedures and regulations.
He urged present-day leaders to emulate Sitta’s leadership qualities and uphold the principles of patriotism, honesty and public service for the benefit of future generations.
Ndejembi said the commemoration also provided an opportunity to reflect on the foundations of responsible leadership, recalling the teachings of the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, that a leader is a servant and public office is a responsibility that must be exercised with integrity.
