Kilombero Golf Open 2026 tees off in Morogoro, uniting golf clubs from across the country.

MOROGORO: THE Kilombero Golf Open 2026 kicked off today as golf enthusiasts gear up for an exciting weekend of skill, competition, and sportsmanship at the picturesque Kilombero Golf Course.
The three-day tournament, the first of its kind to be held at the estate, has attracted players from various golf clubs across the country. The event aims to promote golf, strengthen competition among players, and encourage broader stakeholder participation in the development of the sport in Tanzania.
This year’s tournament brings together seven teams from golf clubs across the country: TPDF Lugalo Golf Club, Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club, Kilimanjaro Golf Club, TPC Club, Morogoro Gymkhana Club, Mufindi Golf Club, and Kilombero Golf Club. Their participation provides an opportunity for golfers to compete, connect, and exchange experiences while contributing to the growth of the sport.
Speaking at the event, Pierre Redinger, Chairman of Kilombero Country Club and a Kilombero Sugar Growers Director, said that hosting the tournament provides an important opportunity to bring together players from different clubs, strengthen sporting competition, and encourage greater participation in golf.
“Hosting the Kilombero Golf Open gives us an opportunity to bring together golfers from different clubs, strengthen competition, and encourage more people to discover the sport. We believe this tournament will contribute to the continued development of golf and promote participation among players from different parts of the country.”
NBC Bank, the tournament’s sponsor, said its partnership with Kilombero Sugar is aimed at supporting the development of golf, helping young people identify and nurture their talents, and creating opportunities for players to gain recognition on the international stage.
Jimmy Myalize, Head of Transactions and Large Customer Deposits at NBC Bank, emphasized the importance of partnerships in developing sports and nurturing emerging talent.
“Our sponsorship of the Kilombero Golf Open reflects the importance of partnerships in developing sports and creating opportunities for young people. Through our collaboration with Kilombero Sugar and other stakeholders, we aim to contribute to an environment where emerging talent can be identified, nurtured, and given opportunities to compete in different tournaments.”
Meanwhile, Isiaaka Dunia and Vicky Elias, golfers from TPDF Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam, encouraged young people to take up golf and explore the opportunities the sport offers. They also called on parents and guardians, particularly mothers, to encourage their daughters to participate in golf, develop their abilities, and pursue their sporting ambitions.
“We encourage more young people to take up golf so they can discover and develop their talents. Parents also have an important role to play in supporting their children, including girls, and giving them the opportunity to participate in sports and develop their abilities,” said Isiaaka Dunia, Golfer, TPDF Lugalo Golf Club.
“We would like to see more girls taking up golf. Parents and guardians have an important role to play in encouraging their daughters to participate in sports and supporting them to make the most of the opportunities available to develop their talents,” said Vicky Elias, Golfer, TPDF Lugalo Golf Club.
The Kilombero Golf Open 2026 is expected to conclude on Sunday, 11 October 2026, at the Kilombero Sugar Golf Course in Kilombero District, Morogoro Region.
