Artists urged to turn challenges into opportunities for success

DAR ES SALAAM: Emerging Bongo Flava artist Agness Sylvester, popularly known as Chocolate StarGirl, has said challenges are part of the journey to success in the music industry and should not discourage artists from pursuing their dreams or delivering their best work.
Agness said artists should view the challenges they encounter as opportunities to learn, gain experience and improve their craft rather than using them as excuses for failing to achieve their goals.
She said her music career officially began in 2021 after completing school, although she developed a passion for music at a young age and later started singing in church before joining the professional music industry.
The artist said one of her early songs was “Nishakupenda”, adding that she currently has seven songs to her name.
She also spoke about her latest song, “Wakawaka,” saying it has started gaining popularity on social media platforms and in entertainment venues.
According to Agness, the song’s growing popularity has been driven by its strong songwriting and efforts to promote it, which have helped fans embrace the track and sing along with her at various entertainment venues.
Speaking about the challenges she faces in her music career, Agness said she does not view them as obstacles but rather as part of the journey that motivates her to work harder and perform better.
“Challenges are normal in every field, so I take them as part of the journey, and they motivate me to continue doing better,” Agness said.
She urged young people aspiring to join the music industry not to be afraid of starting, saying the first step towards achieving a dream is being willing to take action and remain determined despite obstacles.
Agness encouraged young people to believe in their dreams and never give up, noting that no one knows what the future holds and that it is important to work hard and make use of every opportunity that comes their way.
On the development of Tanzania’s music industry, Agness said the sector is moving in a positive direction, with more young artists emerging and bringing new creativity and styles that she believes will continue to push the industry forward.
She also promised her fans more quality music and new projects in the coming period, saying she is working on different projects that she believes will entertain them and keep them following her artistic journey
