Mwanza RC orders doorstep public services

MWANZA: MWANZA Regional Commissioner, CP Salum Hamduni, has directed public servants in the region to leave their offices and take government services closer to citizens in their communities to address challenges affecting them.

Speaking during an official working visit to Buchosa District Council yesterday, Commissioner of Police (CP) Hamduni urged public servants to discharge their duties professionally while upholding ethics, obedience and integrity to make government services more accessible.

“I urge public servants to fulfil their responsibilities diligently in line with their professional standards to serve citizens while upholding ethics, obedience and integrity. To achieve this, I want you to leave your offices and go serve the citizens in their communities,” he said.

CP Hamduni said government services should reach citizens where they live instead of requiring them to travel to public offices to seek assistance.

He also addressed challenges facing the water and road sectors, noting that budget constraints continue to affect projects implemented by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) and the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA).

“I will continue working with higher authorities, so that the challenges facing the water and road sectors are addressed,” CP Hamduni said.

He commended Buchosa District Council for implementing development projects financed through internally generated revenue.

The Regional Commissioner also directed the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB), to continue monitoring ongoing development projects to ensure they meet required quality standards and that the work corresponds with the funds allocated.
