Talent search returns as Nyota Bigi enters second season

DAR ES SALAAM: STUCK in a job that does not feel like you? Wondering if the thing you are actually good at, the one you do at home, in your room or just for fun, could be more than a hobby?

Serengeti Breweries’ Limited’s, Serengeti Lite, in partnership with KUNTA Africa, wants to find out. The brands have announced the return of Nyota Bigi for a second season, opening the search for Tanzania’s next big star across Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Arusha and Dodoma. Auditions will begin in Dar es Salaam on 3 October, before moving to Mwanza on 10 October, Arusha on 17 October and Dodoma on 24 October.

Nyota Bigi Season 2 is looking for singers, dancers, actors, comedians and other creative talent that Tanzania has yet to discover. The programme is the next chapter of Serengeti Lite’s “Lite Your Imagination” platform, encouraging young adults to take their creativity seriously, express themselves and see where their talent can take them.

Speaking at the Season 2 press launch in Dar es Salaam, Serengeti Breweries Limited’s Director of Marketing and Innovation, Henry Esiaba, said the platform is built around a simple reality: talent is everywhere, but not everyone gets the opportunity to be seen.

“We know there is talent in every part of Tanzania. What is sometimes missing is the opportunity to be seen. Nyota Bigi gives young people that stage. We are back for Season 2, alongside our partners at KUNTA Africa, because we want to find more of that talent, put it in front of a bigger audience, and back it properly, wherever it lies,” said Henry..

On her part, Rhona Namanya, Head of Beer and Ready to Drink beverages for Serengeti Breweries Limited said that this year’s platform has grown winder covering more regions in Tanzania compared to Season 1 which focused on one region.

“We are happy to announce that Season 2 is Bigger and Better, covering three more regions compared to one region that we focused on last year. In addition to Dar es Salaam, which we covered last year, we will expand the talent search to Arusha, Mwanza and XXX. This goes a long way in covering our commitment, as a brand, to showcase and enhance Tanzania’s talent.” Said Rhona.

Auditions will run city by city, with 24 contestants set to make it through the auditions and into bootcamp, the next stage of the competition.

Registration is now open through the Nyota Bigi QR code, website, WhatsApp or phone. Applicants must be aged18 to 30, have valid identification and submit a short video showcasing their talent. Auditions will be conducted both in person and online, giving aspiring creatives different ways to put themselves forward.

For those who make it through, Nyota Bigi offers a route into the wider creative industry, with opportunities extending beyond the competition itself. Participants can gain exposure and potential connections across influencing, modelling, entertainment, talent management and recording, giving them a chance to turn a moment on stage into something that lasts.

The second season builds on the first edition of Nyota Bigi, a national talent search created and produced by KUNTA Africa to find and showcase talent from across Tanzania. The programme brings together different creative disciplines and uses television, radio, digital platforms and on-ground activities to connect with audiences nationwide.

For Serengeti Lite, Nyota Bigi brings “Lite Your Imagination” to life by giving young adults a space to move from simply imagining what they could do to actually putting their talent out there. The platform is part of the brand’s continued focus on creativity, self-expression and individuality.
