Rashid, Daniel win 8th Diplomatic Golf titles

ARUSHA: JAZILA Daniel and Rashid Rashid emerged as the overall winners at the 8th Diplomatic Golf Charity Tournament, held over the weekend at Kilimanjaro Wildlife Golf Course in Arusha.
The annual charity tournament, organised by Songea Mississippi Foundation, in collaboration with the host club brought together golfers from across Tanzania and neighbouring East African Community (EAC) countries for a two-day competition featuring both individual and team events.
The tournament teed off on Friday with an 18- hole individual Stableford competition before golfers returned to the course on Saturday for another 18- hole team-pair challenge.
Daniel claimed the ladies’ overall title with an impressive three-under 39 Stableford points from a handicap of 17, while Rashid won the men’s individual category with a stunning four-under 40 points off a handicap of 14.
Daniel finished two points better ahead of Vicky Elias, who was runner-up with 37 points from a handicap of six.
In the men’s category, Rashid was followed by Abdallah Singano, who scored 39 points, while Claudio Kisanko finished third with 36 points on countback.
Daniel also completed a successful weekend by winning the ladies’ Longest Drive prize, while Bao RIP took the men’s award.

Glady Mutisya won the ladies’ Nearest to Pin prize, with Emmanuel Augustino claiming the men’s award.
In the other categories, Mark Walker won the seniors’ title with 33 points from a handicap of 17, while 28-handicapper Hussein Fadhil emerged as the junior champion with 28 points.
The team-pair competition was won by Cheryl Reutenbach and Bao RIP, who combined for 48 points. Ali Hazam and Major Songoro finished runners-up with 45 points on countback.

The event continued the Diplomatic Golf Charity Tournament’s tradition of bringing together golfers, businesses and partners from across the country and beyond while combining competitive golf with networking and charitable support.
