Tanzania sends condolences to people of Norway following the death of King Harald V

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has conveyed condolences to the government and people of Norway following the death of King Harald V, with the government praising the late monarch for his leadership and contribution to national unity.

Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Ngwaru Maghembe, signed the condolence book at the Norwegian Embassy in Tanzania, conveying condolences from President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the people of Tanzania.

Dr Maghembe delivered the message at the residence of Norway’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Tone Tinnes, in Dar es Salaam stating that King Harald V will be remembered for his exemplary leadership and dedicated service to Norway, particularly for safeguarding the country’s values and strengthening national unity.

King Harald V ascended to the throne in 1991 and died on August 28, 2026, aged 89.

He is expected to be laid to rest in Oslo on September 9, 2026.
