Dr Samia thanks the outgoing Egyptian envoy for cementing his country’s strong ties with Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan, has met with the Egyptian Ambassador to Tanzania, Sherif Ismail, who paid a farewell visit to State House in Dar es Salaam at the end of his four-year diplomatic assignment in the country.

During the meeting, President Samia thanked Ambassador Ismail for his contribution to strengthening the longstanding and friendly relations between Tanzania and Egypt during his tenure.

President Samia said Tanzania and Egypt have continued to expand cooperation across several sectors, including trade and investment, education, health, agriculture, energy, tourism, transport and logistics.

She stressed the importance of further increasing trade and investment between the two countries, saying that stronger economic ties would help maximize existing opportunities and deliver greater benefits to the people of Tanzania and Egypt.

The discussions also focused on the need to improve infrastructure as well as transport and logistics services to facilitate trade between Tanzania and Egypt, while creating greater opportunities for access to other markets across Africa.

In the education sector, President Samia expressed appreciation to the Government of Egypt for continuing to provide Tanzanians with scholarships, training opportunities and various capacity-building programmes.

On health, the two leaders discussed ways of strengthening cooperation, particularly through training for health professionals, improving access to medical equipment and advancing pharmaceutical production.

President Samia and Ambassador Ismail also discussed the importance of sustaining cooperation in these and other areas of mutual interest as part of broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between Tanzania and Egypt.
