2,000 people to brighten the Dar Night Run as it gathers storm

DAR ES SALAAM: OVER 2,000 people are expected to participate in the Dar Night Run 2026, organised by The Runners Club, which will be held on August 29 this year at the Police Officers Mess grounds in Dar es Salaam.
Dar Night Run Vice-Chairperson, Godfrey Mwangunguru, said preparations for the ninth edition of the event have been completed, urging members of the public to turn out in large numbers and take part.
Mwangunguru made the announcement today, August 21, 2026, while speaking to media outlets in Dar es Salaam, saying the race is not only aimed at promoting physical fitness but will also provide participants with an opportunity to enjoy entertainment and socialise.
He said the Dar Night Run has continued to distinguish itself from other races because it is held at night, giving participants a unique experience of running in a different environment.

He urged runners, sports enthusiasts and entertainment lovers to turn out in large numbers for the ninth edition of the event.
“Last year, we had approximately 1,500 participants. This year, we are targeting 2,000 participants or more due to the growing enthusiasm among participants and sponsors,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dar es Salaam Regional Athletics Association Secretary-General, Felix Chunga said the association, in collaboration with Tanzania Athletics, will ensure that the ninth edition of the Dar Night Run is conducted in accordance with international athletics standards and regulations.
The Dar Night Run 2026 is sponsored by Castle Lite, American Clinic Tanzania, Ifakara Health Institute, Skechers, Owolovo and Yas.
