Serbian envoy to Tanzania hails Mtumba city development as more  embassies eye to relocate there

DODOMA: SERBIA has expressed confidence that the development of the government city in Mtumba, Dodoma, will transform the area into a major diplomatic hub, with more embassies expected to relocate there in the coming decade.

Serbian Ambassador to Tanzania, Jovica Topalović, made the statement during a visit to inspect the site allocated for construction of the Serbian Embassy where the envoy commended the government for its progress in developing the area, saying he believes that many embassies will move to Mtumba within the next 10 years.

Additionally, the Ambassador stated that the development of Mtumba is vital in creating a conducive environment for diplomatic missions and would strengthen Tanzania’s relations with countries across the world.

According to the Ambassador, the concentration of diplomatic missions in one area would make it easier for diplomats to interact, coordinate and strengthen cooperation.

“If many embassies are located in one area, it will make diplomatic interaction and cooperation much easier,” he said.

Additionally, Ambassador Topalović also said Serbia and Tanzania had a long-standing relationship and cooperation in various areas, expressing optimism that bilateral ties would grow stronger over the next four years.

During the visit, the Coordinator for Construction and Development of the Government City in the Prime Minister’s Office, Noel Mlindwa, presented an update on the progress of construction and development of the area.

The visit was also attended by the Acting Director of the Europe and Americas Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ellen Maduhu, ministry officials and experts from the Dodoma City Council.
