Connectivity, technology investments earn Yas ICT awards
DAR ES SALAAM: INVESTMENT in connectivity and technology driven environmental initiatives has helped Yas secure two honours at the TEHAMA Awards 2026, strengthening its position in Tanzania’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
The telecommunications company also won the ICT for Environmental Conservation award, recognising its use of technology to support environmental protection and sustainable development.
The awards were presented recently in Dar es Salaam, at a ceremony attended by stakeholders from Tanzania’s ICT and digital financial services sectors. The Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki, was the guest of honour.

Yas Business Chief Officer Norman Kiondo said the recognition would strengthen the company’s focus on expanding network infrastructure and improving connectivity as demand for digital services increases.
“Internet connectivity has become an important part of our day-to-day activities. People rely on it to do business, work, learn, access services and stay connected,” Mr Kiondo said.
He said retaining the Best National ISP award reflected the growing importance of reliable internet services as more Tanzanians adopt digital platforms for business and essential services.
Mr Kiondo said the environmental conservation award would encourage Yas to explore further applications of technology in supporting sustainability.
The TEHAMA Awards, organised by the Information and Communication Technologies Commission (ICTC) with industry stakeholders, recognise contributions to innovation, technology adoption and the development of Tanzania’s ICT sector.
