Tanzania affirms cooperation with Africa50 in advancing infrastructure projects across Africa

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has pledged to strengthen collaboration with Africa50 and other shareholders to accelerate the delivery of strategic infrastructure projects across Africa, saying the partnership is key to turning development priorities into bankable investments.

The commitment was made by the Minister for Finance, Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar during the Africa50 General Shareholders’ Meeting (GSM), which concluded on Thursday at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam, where he served as co-chairperson.

Speaking at the conference, the minister noted that Tanzania views Africa50 as a critical platform that brings together governments, investors and financial institutions to transform infrastructure ambitions into viable projects capable of attracting investment.

“The Africa50 vision is fully aligned with the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, which aims to transform the country into an upper-middle-income economy and achieve a trillion-dollar economy by 2050,” he said.

Additionally, the minister said that infrastructure remains the backbone of achieving economic transformation, particularly in key areas such as energy, transport and trade facilitation systems, which are essential for boosting production, regional trade and overall economic growth.
