Tanzania thanks French envoy for cementing bilateral ties in culture, arts, sports

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Outgoing French Ambassador to Tanzania, Anne-Sophie Avé, has been praised for strengthening diplomatic relations and promoting cultural cooperation between Tanzania and France during her tenure.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, commended the envoy during a farewell meeting held in Dar es Salaam, thanking her for deepening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation in culture, arts and sports.

Ambassador Kombo said Ms Avé played a key role in promoting cultural exchanges through initiatives such as kanga design competitions, sports photography contests and other activities that strengthened people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The minister also thanked the outgoing ambassador for her contribution to enhancing diplomatic cooperation and wished her success in her future assignments.

For her part, Ms Avé expressed gratitude to Ambassador Kombo and the Tanzanian government for the support extended to her throughout her diplomatic mission, saying it enabled her to discharge her duties effectively.

She also commended Ambassador Kombo for his leadership in advancing Tanzania’s foreign policy and pledged to remain a strong ambassador for Tanzania by promoting the country’s investment opportunities, tourism potential and cultural richness even after the end of her diplomatic posting.
