CTI unveils green-themed 19th President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards
DAR ES SALAAM: THE Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) has announced that the 19th President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA), Tanzania’s most prestigious platform for industrial recognition, will take place on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Super Dome, Masaki.
According to the Chairperson of CTI, Hussein Sufian, this year’s theme, “Green Elegance — Celebrating Sustainable Manufacturing Practices,” reflects a shift in what PMAYA recognizes not just industrial output, but the sustainability, responsibility, and resilience behind it.
He said the evening will feature Tanzania’s first Green Carpet, replacing the traditional red carpet, symbolising the sector’s shared commitment to sustainable industrial growth.
“PMAYA has spent nineteen years telling the story of Tanzanian industry at its best. This year, we are telling a fuller story, one that recognizes not only what our manufacturers produce, but how responsibly they produce it,” he said.
“Green Elegance is not a theme we are borrowing; it is a direction the sector is already moving in, and PMAYA exists to recognise that leadership,” said Sufian
He said for the first time in its 19-year history, apart from the Award Category Winners, PMAYA will name six Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Ambassadors, manufacturers identified through CTI’s ongoing ESG assessment work as leaders in environment, Social, and Governance practice.
He said these Ambassadors are identified through direct evaluation of industrial practice on the ground.
“The 2026 cohort will serve as sector advocates for 12 months and forms the founding pool from which Green Manufacturer of the Year, a new permanent award category, will be added in the 20th PMAYA,” said CTI Executive Director, Eng Leodegar Tenga
“Through our ESG project, our team visited factories across the country and saw firsthand what compliance actually looks like in practice, not on paper. The six ESG Ambassadors we will name were identified through that process,” he said.
“ This is the beginning of a permanent recognition pathway for sustainable manufacturing in Tanzania, and we look forward to sharing their stories on the 24th of August,” he said
He said the 19th PMAYA is proudly supported by leading Tanzanian manufacturers and brands, including Tanzania Cigarette Company (TCC), Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL), Chemi Cotex Limited, and Africab Group (Kilimanjaro Cables). He said since 2005, PMAYA has been organized annually by CTI to recognize outstanding performance across 26 industrial sub-sectors of Tanzania’s economy, from manufacturing and agro-processing to energy, ICT, and pharmaceuticals.
He said the Awards remain Tanzania’s foremost platform for industrial recognition, investment promotion, and public-private dialogue.
