New CCM leaders back development agenda

DAR ES SALAAM: THE newly appointed Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Secretariat members have pledged to strengthen the ruling party’s structures, promote unity among members and mobilise support for the government’s development agenda.

The new leaders also vowed to uphold fairness, respect the party’s constitution and work diligently to justify the confidence placed in them following their appointment by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

The commitment was expressed yesterday during their official reception at Lumumba CCM sub-office in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking at the event, CCM Deputy Secretary-General (Mainland),  Aggrey Mwanri, said the new Secretariat would work hard to meet the expectations of the party leadership and members across the country.

He pledged that the leadership would prioritise consensus-building, strengthen grassroots structures and enhance engagement with members to ensure CCM continues serving Tanzanians effectively.

“This leadership will focus on strengthening unity within the party and working closely with members across the country to consolidate CCM ahead of future political activities,”  Mwanri said.

He called on party members to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership, saying the government remains committed to improving citizens’ welfare through implementation of development programmes.

“Our responsibility is to unite the party and support our chairperson’s vision. Together, we must continue strengthening CCM while promoting the government’s achievements for the benefit of all Tanzanians,” he said.

Mwanri urged young party members to remain patient, disciplined and committed, saying leadership opportunities are earned through dedication and consistent service.

He also advised members not to be distracted by criticism from political opponents but instead focus on communicating government achievements in areas such as education, transport infrastructure, energy and the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) flagship projects.

CCM Deputy SecretaryGeneral (Zanzibar), Abdi Mchomvu Abdi, pledged to faithfully abide by the party’s constitution, implement directives while working to expand membership and strengthen the party nationwide.

“We are ready to serve the party with commitment and ensure CCM continues to grow stronger and remains close to its members,” he said.

Meanwhile, CCM Secretary for Ideology, Publicity and Training, Kenani Kihongosi, said the newly appointed leaders bring extensive experience from both party and government responsibilities.
