Digital push begins in Kibamba as schools receive ICT boost

DAR ES SALAAM: KIBAMBA Constituency has officially embarked on its journey to becoming a fully digital constituency, with the education sector identified as the starting point through the rollout of information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure aimed at improving public service delivery.

The initiative was officially launched on Friday by the Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Member of Parliament for Kibamba Constituency, Angellah Kairuki, during the handover of 20 HP computers and two all-in-one printers valued at TZS 100 million.

The ICT equipment was donated by Bayport Financial Services Tanzania to the Kibamba Constituency Education Department as part of the company’s Corporate Social Investment programme.

Speaking after receiving the equipment at Anazaki Primary School in Kimara, Kairuki said the donation marks the official launch of the “Make Kibamba Digital” strategy, which seeks to transform the constituency through the adoption of digital technology across public institutions.

She said the digital transformation will begin with the education sector before expanding to secondary schools, ward offices and other government service centres in phases over the next three to four years.

“We are starting with the education department because it is the foundation of community development. These ICT tools will improve education administration, communication between departments, examination coordination and service delivery to teachers, parents and students,” Kairuki said.

She added that preparations have already been completed to equip secondary schools with computers, projectors and other modern ICT equipment, noting that the programme will be implemented gradually to ensure sustainable digital transformation across the constituency.

Kairuki thanked Bayport Financial Services Tanzania for partnering with the government to support development initiatives, saying the collaboration demonstrates how the private sector can contribute to improving public services through technology.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Bayport Financial Services Tanzania Chief Credit Officer Amina Amani said the donation reflects the company’s commitment to creating a lasting impact as it celebrates two decades of operations in Tanzania.

“As we reflected on how best to celebrate this milestone, we asked ourselves how we could create a legacy that would continue making a difference long after the celebrations are over. The answer was clear—we wanted to make an investment that would continue creating value for communities and support Tanzania’s development journey,” she said.

Amani noted that the donated computers and printers will strengthen digital education management systems by improving administrative efficiency, record management and access to technology for education officials.

“These computers represent more than technology; they represent opportunity. They will support education officers and teachers who are shaping the future of our nation while strengthening service delivery through digital transformation,” she added.

She said the initiative aligns with Tanzania’s broader digital transformation agenda, emphasizing that access to modern technology is essential for improving public services and preparing future generations for a digital economy.

The ICT donation forms part of Bayport’s 20th Anniversary Corporate Social Investment programme, through which the company is celebrating two decades of operations by investing in sustainable community development while reaffirming its commitment to supporting Tanzania’s long -term social and economic progress.
