State Attorneys trained on Finance Act

DODOMA: CHIEF Parliamentary Draftsman Onorius Njole has described the Finance Act as a key pillar in implementing the government’s national budget, urging State Attorneys to strengthen their understanding of the law to enhance legislative drafting and legal advisory services.

Mr Njole made the remarks yesterday while opening a special virtual training programme on the Finance Act for State Attorneys from various public institutions across the country.

He said the programme seeks to equip participants with a deeper understanding of their role in drafting and reviewing the Finance Act, ensuring that its provisions meet both legal and economic requirements.

“The Finance Act is central to implementing the government’s national budget. State Attorneys have an important responsibility in analysing and drafting its provisions to ensure they are legally sound and economically effective,” he said.

According to Mr Njole, the training is intended to enhance the technical capacity of State Attorneys by familiarising them with annual tax and financial reforms incorporated into the Finance Act.

Earlier, Acting Director of Negotiations, Contract Management and Dispute Resolution, Mr Edson Mweyunge, urged participants to actively engage in the sessions to strengthen their professional competence.

He said the knowledge gained would improve the effectiveness of State Attorneys in legislative drafting, legal advisory services and supporting public institutions, while reinforcing the rule of law in the country.
