Tanzania affirms to work closely with mining stakeholders to create a competitive industry

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Minerals Anthony Mavunde has said the government will continue working closely with stakeholders in the mining sector through dialogue platforms aimed at building a competitive industry, attracting investment and increasing the sector’s contribution to national economic growth.

Mavunde made the remarks during the Mining Breakfast Briefing (MBB), organised jointly by the Tanzania Chamber of Minerals and the Ministry of Minerals, where he urged stakeholders to continue using such platforms to discuss opportunities and challenges facing the mining industry.

He said regular engagement between the government and industry stakeholders is essential in building mutual understanding, addressing challenges and creating a favourable investment environment in the mining sector.

The minister thanked leaders and members of the Tanzania Chamber of Minerals for providing opportunities for the government and stakeholders to meet and exchange views on various issues affecting the sector.

He also commended Mantra Tanzania Limited for sponsoring the meeting, saying the participation of stakeholders in such forums demonstrates a shared commitment to building a mining sector capable of attracting capital and technology while ensuring mineral resources contribute significantly to economic and social development.

“The government values this arrangement of engaging with mining sector stakeholders through the Mining Breakfast Briefing because it provides an opportunity for productive discussions, building common understanding, addressing emerging challenges and finding solutions together,” Mavunde said.

He said the government will continue cooperating with stakeholders to address challenges and improve the investment environment in order to increase production, create employment opportunities and boost government revenue.

Mavunde also urged service providers in the mining sector to take advantage of available opportunities by investing in industries that manufacture products derived from locally available mineral resources.

“It is important to continue meeting regularly through this important platform because it gives us an opportunity to listen to each other, discuss and find joint solutions to the challenges we face,” he said.
