Destination Tanzania Forum charts strategy to boost tourist arrivals

ARUSHA: THE Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) has convened tourism stakeholders at the Destination Tanzania Stakeholders Forum 2026 held at the Ngorongoro Building in Arusha, with the aim of strengthening collaboration in promoting Tanzania and enhancing the country’s competitiveness in the global tourism industry.
The forum brought together representatives from the government, private sector, tourism associations, tour operators, hotels, airlines, conservation institutions, development partners, and other tourism stakeholders to discuss opportunities, challenges, and joint strategies for advancing Destination Tanzania.
Opening the forum, TTB Director General Ephraim Mafuru said promoting Tanzania successfully cannot be achieved by a single institution alone but requires the collective efforts of all stakeholders to position the country among the world’s leading tourism destinations.

During the meeting, TTB unveiled the Destination Tanzania Portal, a digital platform designed to integrate tourism information, enhance the visibility of Tanzania’s attractions, and improve access to information for tourists and industry stakeholders. Participants provided feedback and recommendations on how the platform could be further improved to maximize its effectiveness.
In addition, stakeholders discussed tourism marketing campaigns, Tanzania’s participation in international tourism exhibitions, the use of digital platforms, preparations for major international events, and strategies for strengthening Tanzania’s positive image in global tourism markets.
TTB noted that all recommendations gathered during the forum will be incorporated into efforts to refine the Destination Tanzania promotional strategy and strengthen collaboration between the government and the private sector, with the goal of increasing tourist arrivals, attracting investment, and boosting tourism’s contribution to the national economy.
The forum concluded with a call for all stakeholders to continue working together to promote Tanzania as a premier global tourism destination through innovation, partnership, and unity.
