DODOMA: FOLLOWING the launch of Vision 2050 by President Samia Suluhu Hassan on July 17, 2025, in Dodoma, Tanzania has today, July 1, 2026, officially begun implementing the long-term development blueprint.

The commencement of the Vision 2050 implementation marks the end of a long preparation phase and signals the start of a new 25-year journey aimed at transforming the country’s economic, social, and technological landscape.

According to the Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office – Planning and Executive Secretary of the National Planning Commission, Dr Tausi Kida, Vision 2050 is built on the foundation of direct citizen participation. From rural farmers to urban technology innovators, every citizen is now considered a driver of this transformation.

“This is the time to look at how every sector, both public and private, integrates the priorities of Vision 2050 into its daily operations, because the success of its implementation depends on the participation of each one of us,” said Dr Kida.

The vision is expected to build an inclusive, prosperous, just, and self-reliant nation, with a projected economy valued at 1tri US dollars and a per capita income expected to reach 7,000 US dollars by 2050.
