Sixth Phase Government continues to trust young leaders with key leadership roles

DAR ES SALAAM: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has reaffirmed that the Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan continues to place its trust in young people by appointing them to key leadership positions, saying they have demonstrated the capacity to drive reforms and deliver results for the country’s development.

Speaking on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, during the launch of the Tanzania Chamber Portal and the 2026 Business and Investment Annual Conference, the Prime Minister said the government’s confidence in young leaders is based on their ability to bring innovation, competence and fresh perspectives to public service.

As an example of the young leaders entrusted with national responsibilities, Nchemba praised the Chief Executive Officer of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Centre, David Kafulila, describing him as one of the country’s young leaders with broad international exposure and a deep understanding of global development trends.

He said Kafulila continuously studies successful development models from different countries and applies those lessons to Tanzania’s context, making him a valuable asset in advancing the country’s reform agenda.

“The good thing is that President Samia has trusted young people in every sector. At the PPP Centre, my colleague Kafulila is a young leader with broad exposure and a strong understanding of current affairs. He is among the young people who understand how successful nations have achieved their progress,” the Prime Minister said.

Nchemba also stressed that the private sector agenda is now a national agenda, noting that 70 percent of the implementation of Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050 will depend on private sector participation. He called for stronger collaboration between the government and businesses to accelerate economic growth.

He further revealed that President Samia has directed the removal of legal and regulatory barriers that hinder business and investment, saying that any laws obstructing development should be amended through Parliament to fast-track the country’s development agenda.
