KIOO Limited donates150m/- in equipment to schools in Mkuranga as its CSR program.

DAR ES SALAAM: KIOO Limited has provided various donations to Primary and Secondary Schools in Mkuranga Coast Region amounting to 150m/- last year as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

Over the weekend, the company donated  photocopy machines and computers to Msorwa and Malela secondary schools in Mkuranga District, Coast Region, worth 8m/-.

The equipment was handed over the weekend by Kioo Limited’s Safety, Health and Environment Advisor, Richard Msumule, during a ceremony attended by the Mkuranga District Primary Education Officer in Coast Region, Jessy Mpangala.

Speaking immediately after providing the donation, Richard Msumule said that in its CSR program, Kioo Limited has been renovating classrooms, teachers’ offices and building water wells.

He said the company has been building clean gas energy projects, gas stoves, purchasing computers and building new classrooms for schools in Mkuranga District, Coast Region.

Mkuranga District Education Officer, Jessy Mpangala commended Kioo Limited for the way it has been regularly assisting schools in the District with various equipment.

She said the company has been providing various types of assistance including renovating classrooms and teachers’ offices, drilling water wells, purchasing desks and renovating teachers’ offices in those schools.

“I sincerely want to congratulate you and tell you that the government recognizes and appreciates your continuous contribution to our schools here in Mkuranga, you have been solving various challenges every time you are told to, congratulations,” said the Education Officer

“You know the government cannot do everything because it serves so many schools and the needs are great, so do not get tired of helping us whenever village and ward leaders come to you to explain the problems of various things in schools, clinics and village offices,” she said

Richard said that KIOO Limited has been setting aside funds every year to give thanks to the community as part of its CSR program

He said that they have been receiving proposals for projects to sponsor from village leaders who have been getting feedback from their citizens about their priorities.

“We always listen to village leaders sit and talk with their citizens and agree on what the priorities are and then they come to us and we look at our capabilities and then we implement them,” he said, adding

“Therefore, all the projects that we are funding, including the gas supply at Vianzi secondary school, are projects that were initiated by the leaders themselves. We do not decide what to help them with, but they decide and bring us their suggestions,” said Richard.

Richard said that for 2026, Kioo Limited has planned to fund several projects in Msorwa village, including the Msorwa health center, repairing a well at Msorwa primary school, and purchasing a water purifier for Msorwa secondary school.

He said Kioo Limited has planned to purchase two beds at the Msorwa health center and renovate two classrooms and teachers’ offices at Msorwa primary school.

He said that in Malela village, they expect to renovate two classrooms at Malela primary school, purchase a laptop for Malela secondary school, purchase a water purifier, renovate two classrooms at Malela secondary school, and renovate the Malela office.

He said Kioo Limited has planned to add six toilet pits and renovate four classrooms at Vianzi secondary school in the district.
