Saudi Arabia, Comoros, Slovakia and UN welcome new Tanzanian envoys

NEW YORK: TANZANIA has intensified its diplomatic engagement across multiple regions following a series of credential presentation ceremonies involving its newly appointed ambassadors in Saudi Arabia, Comoros, the United Nations, and Slovakia.
In Saudi Arabia on May 19, 2026, Tanzania’s Ambassador, Eng Zena Ahmed Said, presented copies of her Letters of Credence to Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister for Protocol Affairs, Abdulmajeed Alsmari, in a formal ceremony where the envoy reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to strengthening its long-standing diplomatic and economic relations with Saudi Arabia for mutual benefit.

Receiving the credentials on behalf of the Saudi Foreign Minister, Alsmari commended Tanzania for its consistent efforts in deepening bilateral relations and officially welcomed the ambassador, wishing her success in her new role.
In Comoros on May 21, 2026, Tanzania’s Ambassador Salim Othman Hamad presented his Letters of Credentials to President Azali Assoumani at the Beit-Salam Presidential Palace in Moroni.

President Assoumani conveyed warm greetings from President Samia Suluhu Hassan and expressed appreciation for the strong historical and fraternal ties between the two countries and highlighted key areas for expanded cooperation, including the blue economy, green economy, trade, investment, aviation, maritime transport, health, and education.
Ambassador Hamad pledged to further strengthen bilateral relations across strategic sectors such as energy, agriculture, fisheries, trade, investment, and economic diplomacy.
In New York on May 21, 2026, Tanzania’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Togolani Mavura, presented his Letters of Credence to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, formally assuming his duties at the world body.

Meanwhile, in Slovakia, Tanzania’s Ambassador-designate with residence in Vienna, Austria, Naomi S. H. Aziz, presented copies of her Letters of Credence to Petra Ruzickova, Chief of Protocol at the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

Ruzickova congratulated her on the appointment and expressed confidence that her tenure would further strengthen bilateral relations between Tanzania and Slovakia.
Ambassador Aziz reaffirmed her readiness to deepen cooperation and explore new opportunities between the two nations.
