Tanzania, Turkey sign key resolutions to broaden ties in trade and investment

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA and Turkey have signed key resolutions aimed at strengthening economic cooperation, with a sharp focus on trade and investment, under the Joint Cooperation Commission (JCC).

According to information from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, the resolutions signed in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday marks the successful conclusion of the inaugural JCC meeting between Tanzania and Turkey.

The resolutions were signed by Tanzania’s Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Said Shaib Mussa, while Ambassador Volkan Işıkcı represented Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking after the two-day meeting held from May 4–5, Ambassador Mussa said the session marked a major milestone, opening a new chapter in the over six-decade diplomatic ties between the two countries.

“The conclusion of this meeting paves the way for deeper strategic cooperation and timely implementation of mutually beneficial opportunities,” he said.

Additionally, the Permanent Secretary invited Turkish investors to explore opportunities in key sectors including industry, agriculture, tourism, aviation and railways, as both sides underscored the need to unlock new economic prospects across financial, public and private sectors.

The two countries also agreed that the next Joint Trade Commission meeting will be hosted in Ankara.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Işıkcı reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting Tanzania’s development efforts through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), and commended the country’s continued efforts in maintaining peace, security and national unity—factors that continue to attract global investors.
