Uhuru Torch race leader sees TATURA efficiency in Mwilala road project

RUANGWA: THE Uhuru Torch race leader for 2026, Wazo Mwang’onda, has commended TARURA in Ruangwa District for the quality execution of a 0.59-kilometre tarmac road project in Mwilala, describing it as a model of effective project supervision.

Speaking during the inauguration of the road under the Mwenge wa Uhuru, Mwang’onda said he was impressed by the construction standards, which include well-built drainage systems and adherence to quality benchmarks.

Ruangwa District Manager for Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency, Engineer Mashaka Nalupi, said the project was implemented by M/S JATL Tech & Construction Company Limited at a cost of 513.32m/-.

He noted that the road aims to improve transport for residents of Likangara, Dodoma, Nachingwea and Mchanganindani villages, while significantly reducing frequent maintenance costs due to its durable tarmac surface.

Residents have welcomed the development, saying the road has eased movement and boosted business activities, with street lighting enabling them to operate safely even at night.
