Uhuru Torch calls for urgent completion of stormwater drainage works in Kigamboni

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Uhuru Torch has called for urgent completion of stormwater drainage works on the Lingia–Nyakwale road in Kigamboni, even as the 8.3bn/- project reaches 80 per cent completion.
National Uhuru Torch Race Leader for 2026, Wazo Mwang’onda, made the call on April 14 after inspecting the 3.75-kilometre road and laying its foundation stone. He said while progress is commendable, unfinished drainage structures risk undermining the project’s impact, particularly during the rainy season.
Mr Mwang’onda praised the government’s continued investment in road infrastructure and the contractor’s performance so far, but urged faster execution of the remaining works to ensure timely completion and relief for residents affected by flooding.
