PM Nchemba eulogises the late Lukuvi

DODOMA: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has paid glowing tribute to the late William Lukuvi, saying he has long benefited from the veteran politician’s wisdom, guidance and selfless dedication to public service, especially since his first appointment as Deputy Minister for Finance.
Speaking today during the funeral ceremony at the National Assembly grounds in Dodoma, Dr Nchemba said Lukuvi had been a dependable adviser whose counsel shaped his early years in government and continued even after Lukuvi was appointed Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office.
“For a long time, I have benefited from the wisdom of the late William Lukuvi… even when I was first appointed Deputy Minister for Finance, he would give me advice voluntarily, without hesitation,” the PM said.

He added that Lukuvi remained an energetic and committed collaborator even in his later roles, describing him as a leader who never grew tired of working for the government and the people.
Dr Nchemba further noted that Lukuvi’s efficiency in coordinating government work made it possible for him to undertake an extensive field tour lasting over a month, moving from one local government authority to another without interruption.
“I was able to plan one of the longest tours, over a month and several consecutive days, going from council to council. I did this because the coordination work that needed to be done was being handled effectively by Hon Lukuvi,” he said.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to join thousands of mourners in Iringa next Tuesday to honour the late Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, Coordination and Persons with Disabilities), who passed away on Wednesday at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital in Dodoma Region.
