Three women to get free IVF at Kairuki Green IVF Centre (KGIVF)

DAR ES SALAAM: THREE women have been lucky enough to get a free IVF at Kairuki Green IVF (KGIVF) at Bunju A Mianzini, Dar es Salaam.

They got the opportunity yesterday evening during a draw conducted by guest of honor, Jokate Mwegelo during the Women’s Day celebrations organized by the Kairuki Health Education Network (KHEN) in Dar es Salaam.

The women are among more than 137 women from various regions who applied for the free opportunity but only the three women were lucky in the selection process.

On average, the cost of IVF in Tanzania range between 18 and 20 million shillings.

KGIVF Director, Dr Clementina Kairuki said those who got the opportunity will be served free of charge from the initial stages to the implantation as part of the center’s efforts to help the community.

She said they have decided to provide the service for free as part of celebrating International Women’s Day to give women who have been struggling to have a family but are unable to do so due to financial constrains.

Dk Clementine who is gynecologist said KGIVF has seen many women coming forward to seek pregnancy at the center but 30 percent of them cannot afford the cost of the service.

“There are many people who are having problems, being insulted by their families, getting divorced because they have not been fortunate enough to have children, studies show that one in six marriages has a problem having children, which is why we decided to provide this opportunity,” she said

She said KGIVF has been educating the community about the magnitude of the problem and the best way to find a solution to solve it through IVF.

“We have realized that there are many Tanzanians with this problem but they cannot afford to come to KGIVF to get service because of financial constraints, which is why we have chosen three women to provide this service for free as part of providing education to the community,” she said.

Official guest at the event, Jokate Mwegelo said the Kairuki Health Education Network (KHEN) is a role model for the East and Central African region due to the great things they have done.

She said KHEN has done great things including establishing the KGIVF Center, Kairuki Hospital, a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Kibaha in the Coast region, Kairuki University and the university’s campus in Boko.

“I am a big fan of Kairuki, I have been speaking up for you a lot and today I would like to officially become the ambassador of Kairuki, I will speak up for you wherever I go because you have set a good example in helping our community,” Jokate Mwegelo said .

“I will be an ambassador of standards because I have seen Kairuki as an institution of very high standards, I am not saying this to please anyone here, I am saying this from the bottom of my heart, among the institutions founded by our fellow Tanzanians, Kairuki is a model institution in East and Central Africa because it has stood and is unwavering,” she said

“There are people who started businesses even three years ago and they failed, but today when you talk about Kairuki you are talking about the Hospital, you are talking about Kairuki Green IVF, you are talking about the Kibaha pharmaceutical factory, Kairuki College which has more than 2,000 students,,” she said
