Minister assures Kamal Group of Tanzania’s efforts in enhancing industrial productivity

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving electricity and water supply challenges facing industries as part of efforts to boost production and strengthen the national economy.
The Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga, pledged during a visit to Kamal Group Factory, where she toured production facilities and listened to challenges affecting the company’s operations.
During the visit, Minister Kapinga emphasized the government’s determination to continue working closely with the private sector to improve the industrial environment, enhance productivity, and accelerate economic growth.
She noted that the government had received concerns related to inadequate electricity and water supply, which have been hindering efficient industrial production. She assured the management that relevant institutions, particularly TANESCO and DAWASA, would continue to collaborate with industries to ensure the availability of reliable and industry-friendly infrastructure.

Minister Kapinga also commended Kamal Group for its role in developing youth skills through partnerships with various training institutions, saying the initiative helps prepare young people in line with labour market demands.
Speaking during the visit, Kamal Group Chief Executive Officer, Sameer Santosh, thanked the Minister for taking time to visit the factory and for listening to the challenges facing the company. He expressed optimism that the electricity and water challenges would be addressed, enabling the company to increase production of key products, including gas and steel bars used in construction and other social development activities.
Meanwhile, Ema Mwenda, Head of Communications at Kamal Group, said the company continues to implement its corporate social responsibility initiatives in collaboration with surrounding communities.
These include providing food to school students, donating free prosthetic limbs to people in need, and participating in environmental conservation activities such as tree planting, particularly in Kigamboni military housing areas and schools.
Ms Mwenda further revealed that Kamal Group is expanding its operations in Kerege, Coast Region, an area with well-established industrial infrastructure. She called upon both local and foreign manufacturers to invest in the area.
The visit aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of the factory’s production processes, operational capacity, and its contribution to the development of the industrial sector in the country.
Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade who accompanied the Minister said the visit was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with industries that contribute significantly to national economic growth.
The tour concluded with discussions between Government leaders and company management on strategies to promote industrial growth and enhance public-private partnerships for sustainable development.
