BoT trains 200 students on protecting the shilling

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has provided educational sessions to university students from various institutions across the country, explaining its core responsibilities in managing and strengthening the national economy. These include oversight of the financial sector and efforts to promote innovation in financial services.
More than 200 students from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), the Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM), and the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) participated in a training visit to the Bank of Tanzania’s offices in Dar es Salaam.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about the central bank’s main functions, including managing monetary policy and protecting the value of the Tanzanian shilling, supervising financial institutions, promoting access to Sharia-compliant financial services (Islamic Banking), and supporting ongoing innovation and reforms in the financial sector aimed at improving efficiency and financial inclusion.

The students expressed excitement about the opportunity to learn directly from BoT experts, stating that the training broadened their understanding of economic and financial matters and inspired them to delve deeper into these topics.
The visit is part of the Bank of Tanzania’s efforts to strengthen public education, particularly for young people studying economics and finance, to prepare knowledgeable professionals who understand financial systems and their role in driving national development.
