Airtel expands communication services across five regions

KIGOMA: Airtel Tanzania has officially launched five new communication towers in various locations, including Kigoma, Singida, Kilimanjaro, Geita, and Morogoro as part of Airtel’s strategy to expand its network coverage and reach more Tanzanians living in both urban and rural areas.

The Kigoma Regional Manager, Mr Issack Kijuu, explained that at times villagers faced difficulties communicating with their relatives because in these low-lying areas the network signal was often completely unavailable.

He added his appreciation to Airtel for constructing a communication tower in the village.

Speaking at different occasions, regional managers from various regions—including the Central Zone Airtel Marketing Manager, Mr Salum Ngururu—said:

“We all recognise the importance of communication in our society. Therefore, Airtel has decided to expand our communication coverage so as to reach you, our brothers and sisters living here in Singida.

This tower will facilitate access to our Airtel services, including making calls, sending and receiving money, as well as enjoying our high-speed 4G and 5G internet,”

Meanwhile, the Lake Zone Airtel Manager, Mr Joseph Mushi, speaking to residents of Nyarututu Village in Bwanga Ward, Geita Region, said:

“As the demand for communication continues to increase, especially driven by digital growth, Airtel is also expanding its network coverage by building towers in areas that lack communication infrastructure, as was the case here in Geita.”

These communication towers will help open up opportunities for youth, women, and all those involved along the business value chain.

The regions within these zones are leaders in livestock keeping and agriculture, activities that heavily depend on communication to connect producers with buyers or markets.

He said therefore, the presence of Airtel communication towers will officially open up a major cycle of trade and production in Tanzania.

Similarly, the Morogoro Zone Airtel Sales Manager, Mr John Tungaraza, speaking to residents of the area, said:

“Airtel is committed to ensuring that we build many more towers, even in areas that are not easily accessible, so that digital growth leaves no one behind.

We have approximately 200 towers that will be launched this season in various wards across every region in the country, with the goal of bringing our services closer to our customers.”

The launch was accompanied by a special three-day promotional offer for residents using these towers, whereby Airtel enabled them to receive 50 minutes of calls to all networks, 500 MB of internet, and 50 SMSs as a token of appreciation to the communities in those areas.
