Tanzania Posts launches 55th Essay Writing competition

DAR ES SALAAM: The Tanzania Posts Corporation has organized a letter-writing competition aimed at nurturing the talents of children and young people in writing, as well as recognizing their awareness of issues affecting their communities.

This was stated today in Dar es Salaam by Ferdinand Kabyemela, the Corporation’s Director of Marketing and Sales, during a press briefing. Kabyemela said the competition is linked to digital development, noting that “the world is changing, and there is no choice but to adapt to it.”

He further explained that the competition primarily targets primary and secondary school students, with participants aged between 9 and 15 years.

The languages used in the competition are Kiswahili and English.

Participating youth, Ramadhani Ndogwala and Innocent Laurent, highlighted the importance of letter writing, saying it helps young people develop their thinking skills and provides an opportunity to become better writers.

The Tanzania Posts Corporation has been organizing letter-writing competitions since 1971.

This year’s event is the second competition of the year and marks the 55th edition since the program was launched to promote letter writing among young people.
