NEMC embarks on Pillar Three for environmental conservation, climate change resilience

DAR ES SALAAM: THE National Environmental Management Council (NEMC) has conducted a special capacity-building training on the implementation of the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, with a particular focus on Pillar Three, which emphasizes Environmental Conservation and Climate Change Resilience.

 The training was held in Dar es Salaam and led by Prof. Noah Makula in collaboration with Prof. Pius Yanda from the University of Dar es Salaam, and attended by Board members and the Council’s management team.

During the training, participants received detailed information on the goals of the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, which aims to transform Tanzania into an innovative, resilient, prosperous, and diplomatic nation by the 21st century, guided by the principles of democracy, justice, dignity, peace, unity, and national values.

In addition, NEMC awarded Prof. Pius Zebhe Yanda an honorary recognition for his significant and long-standing contribution to formulating and guiding the implementation of Pillar Three of the Vision 2050. This pillar covers the conservation of biodiversity, protection of wetlands and water sources, control of environmental pollution, land management, and strengthening resilience against climate change.

Speaking after receiving the award, NEMC Director General Dr. Immaculate Sware Semesi commended the recognition and emphasized the Council’s commitment to ensuring full implementation of Pillar Three for the benefit of the environment and the country’s sustainable development.

In another development, Board members and the Management team reviewed the five-year Strategic Plan evaluation for the Council. The presentation was delivered by Dr. Joshua Mwakujonga from Mzumbe University as part of the preparations for NEMC’s new Strategic Plan for the 2026/27–2030/31 financial period.
