Kibaha’s Bokomnemela City project to create 150,000 youth jobs

KIBAHA: THE Bokomnemela Modern City construction project in Kibaha District, Coast Region, which is scheduled to begin in January 2026, is expected to provide a total of 150,000 employment opportunities for Tanzanian youth once completed, it has been learnt.

The project will be jointly implemented by the Kibaha District Council and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) on 1,497 acres of land at Bokomnemela Ward, owned by NSSF, with Imperial Global Group (IGG) contracted to execute the work.

Speaking during a project presentation, IGG Chairman Mr Issack Peter said the development will include residential areas, industries, and various office buildings.

District Administrative Secretary (DAS) Moses Magogwa, speaking on behalf of District Commissioner Mr Simon Nickson, called on government facilitation agencies including the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), Dar es Salaam Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DAWASA), Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA), and the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zone Authority (TISEZA) to provide full support to the contractor and ensure the project starts on schedule.

“The government trusts you to be available and to provide the required assistance and support to the contractor so that this project can start without delays or obstacles,” he said.

For her part, District Executive Director (DED) Regina Bieda urged land officers in the area to fully participate in all stages of preparation and implementation to prevent avoidable land-related conflicts.

“This project is going to transform the lives of many people in this region and in the country as a whole. It is your responsibility to ensure that all procedures are properly followed to avoid unnecessary disputes,” she said.
