MBEYA: The Mbeya Regional Police Force is holding 38 people, including an Ethiopian national identified as Tadesa Limoli (32), on suspicion of entering the country illegally.
According to a statement issued by Mbeya Regional Police Commander SACP Benjamin Kuzaga, the suspects were arrested on November 11, 2025, in the Matebeteli Ranch area of Mbarali District.
Commander Kuzaga explained that the migrants were traveling in a Toyota Noah vehicle with registration number T.953 DJF, owned and driven by Stanslaus Mazengo, a resident of Isitu.

“Preliminary investigations have revealed that Mazengo was transporting the migrants to the home of Jackline Malya (26), a resident of Chimala, with the intention of accommodating them temporarily before smuggling them into South Africa through unofficial routes,” said Commander Kuzaga.
He further urged members of the public to refrain from engaging in human smuggling activities driven by the desire for quick money, emphasizing that the Police Force will not hesitate to take stern action against anyone found aiding foreigners to enter or pass through the country illegally.
